Hopping bunny

My sister in law asked me to make a 'thinking of you' card with Avery Elle's Woodland Wonders. I saw a great card from Vera Rhuhay and I lifted that idea. I used a paper pad from Lawn Fawn for the hill side. The frame is from Mama Elephant and the sentiment from Papertrey Ink.

Delicate

I used the partial embossing technique on this card as well. It just gives some extra dimension and detail to a card. I kept the card clean and simple and used some scraps of Crate Paper. The die is from Simply Graphic and the sentiment from Papertrey Ink.The current challenge at Addicted to Cas is 'Delicate'. I think this card fits into that challenge because of the embossed background and the delicate branches.

Simply Graphic

Quite often people leave me a comment telling me that they always recognize my style of cards. However I always wonder what my style is. I still don't know. If I look at my Pinterest board I see a mishmash of cards.  I love colourful and bold patterns, I love the cute stamps from Lawn Fawn, Mama Elephant and Avery Elle. Papertrey Ink and Stampin Up have got great sets which I use on a regular base. I admire international card makers like Betsy Veldman and Dawn McVey, who both are using bright colours, Elena with her beautiful colouring but also Andrea with her CAS-creations and natural colours. And there are also many Dutch cardmakers who inspire me a lot like Stella, Judith, Marike , Sanne, Ellen and many more. They all offer me a bunch of inspiration with all kinds of different styles. Sometimes I create cards with rainbow colours and lots of design papers, the next one can be sober, CAS and with only a few die cuts. I can't stick to one style. So, maybe that is my style: a mix of different influences.

Today a few CAS creations. During the Christmas break I discovered a French brand of stamps and dies, Simply Graphic. They offer great materials for CAS cards and I ordered some dies and two small stamp sets, one with chevrons (see second card) and the other one is a grunge set (see third card). The sentiments one all three cards are from Papertrey Ink. The circles on the third card are from MFT.

Well, this is definitely my CAS-style I guess :)

Twig wreath

My father has visited friends in the USA recently. I asked him to spare some space in his suitcases, which he was willing to do! So, I ordered some stuff at Papertrey Ink. One of the stampsets I ordered was Twig Wreath. This morning I inked this set for the very first time. I kept it quite simpel by stamping the wreath twice and then added flowers and leaves. I added a strip of the autumn line of Simple stories to the bottom and so I had two cards very quickly finished. Of course some twine to finish it off.

Still alive and kicking

Yep, I'm still alive and kicking! First few weeks back at school were hard. So many things to do, so little time. I sometimes find my way to my craft room. However, I keep it quite simple and create cards based on earlier creations. Also this card. Still like the use of vellum. It has been a long time ago since I used PTI's Hanging Out, but it is such a perfect set for baby cards.The quality of the picture is bad. I took it with my iPad and lost somewhere on the way to this blog some pixels...

Next card is made with PTI's Garden Variety.

I sometimes take a look in blogland and visit pinterest, I try to create a card, I do some stitches and I'm so looking forward to a time where I will have a little more time :)

Vellum #2

Inspired by the challenge at CAS on Sunday and the card I made for it, I continued with vellum. I used two stamp sets from Stampin Up: Lotus Blossom and Painted Petals. I was really fond of these sets when they were released, but I struggle a little when I want to use them. However, with these two cards I am really satisfied. I stamped the sentiment onto the vellum. A strip of patterned paper, kraft and some sewing to finish the card. Unfortunately it is hardly visisble that I used vellum as a layer over the cardbase, but trust me I have used it for sure!

Pretty Flowers

I'm in a flower mood, so I got three cards with flowers for you! I used two sets of Papertrey Ink, Mini Blooms and Natural Beauties. I think more flower cards will follow! I need some stash and these cards are quite easy and simple to create.

Precious

The theme of this week's challenge at the Casology blog is 'precious'. Many cards I make will be sent to precious people. Persons who I love and appreciate. For this challenge I used some precious materials. Well, of course, they aren't, but they give a feeling of being precious. I used some silver thread and gems. The leaves and flower stamps are from Avery Elle's Faboulous Flowers, the sentiments are from Papertrey Ink.

Now I am off the to beach to spend some time with some of our nephews and niece.

Story book

Between studying and some chores I made two cards with Avery Elle's Story book. The sentiment on the first card is from Papertrey Ink. The alphabet I used for the name on the second card is from Lawn Fawn. Background papers from Echo Park. Unfortunately, I can't get the colours right at the moment, but I distressed the white paper with antique linen and tea dye to give it a warmer and softer look.

MiM #196 Colourful Card Corners

Inspired by PTI's Make it Monday I made this card. I used PTI's Natural beauties. The flowers are two-step-stamps. I inked the leaves stamp first with a lighter green and the edges were softly pressed in a darker green. I used a text stamp for some filling and I used distress ink and a drop of water for the water colour look. The sentiment is from PTI's mini blooms.

Hello!

Little by little I can allow myself more time for creativity! My thesis has been handed in and I'm now waiting for the last round of feedback and a date when I can defend it. This week I have to finish one subject and with that it is all over! Well, for this schoolyear so to speak, as I have enrolled for another study after the summerbreak. However, that is far away, first we are going to enjoy the summer. And some craft time. I try to get back to the routine of reading blogs and looking at pinterest. Yesterday and also this morning I have visited many of you. Sorry, if I didn't leave you a comment, but I saw many beautiful creations! Thanks for sharing and giving me bits of inspiration.

I have to say it feels a bit weird sitting at my desk surrounded by all kinds of materials and having not the faintest idea what to do and to create. I was looking forward to playing with my 6x6 paper pads, but ideas are lagging behind... I have to get used to the materials again!

So, yesterday I started quite simple by choosing some stamps, inks and sentiments and I came up with these easy-peasy cards! Same idea, but a different effect.

At the moment I haven't got any card in stock, so I think I am going to stamp on!

Chalkboard Technique #2

I made some more cards with a chalkboard background (see this post for an explanation). This one was really easy as well. I took a black square, embossed it with a nice PTI-sentiment (Mini Blooms-set) and added some chalk ink which I spreaded over the square with my fingers. I trimmed the black backgroun onto a Basic Grey paper and die cut a flower and leaves. Some twine for the finishing touch and ready!

Did you see the posts from Inge on Blogblom and Anneke on Some fiddling on the kitchen table? They used this technique in a beautiful way as well !

Lifting

If you are in a hurry and in need of cards, why not lifting your own cards? That's what I did with the cards I show you today.

This first one is lifted from the card I made last Saturday. I still like that one very much. Judith called it a port hole and indeed it looks like that.
This one is made with the Paired Up set from Clearly Besotted Stamps.

The next two cards are lifts from this one.Now made with PTI's Mini Blooms. For these cards I added a piece of paper from MME's Nostalgia.

Thinking of you

Tests are over! Yesterday evening I did the last two tests. Such a relief! Hopefully I've got pass marks, but I have to wait a couple of weeks before I will know. Some tests were really hard. Let's hope the best. Today was my day off, so I had enough time to make a card. I used the papers and stamps which were still on my craft table. It means that I show you again a card made with MME Nostalgia and MFT's Homespun Hearts. The background is stamped with PTI's polka dots. It is not a card which makes me very satisfied. Maybe this idea worked better when I designed a 10/15 cm card. But I like the stamped 'heart-flower' with the sentiment!

Back in town - Passion for PTI

Back in town after a wonderful holiday! We travelled through Romania and Hungary, visited well known places and friends and explored new cities and areas! A good mix and lovely weather! And now enjoying our own house and bed, own stuff and spoiling Saar and Pien  a bit who had missed us a lot...

I'm not really in a full swing of making cards and other craft as I have made a start of painting my craft room. Next week it will be a guestroom for a little girl, so I have to be in a hurry.

But I can show you a card, made with Echo Park and PTI stamps (Fillable frames 3 and sentiment from the 'Up,up and away' set) . With this card I take part in this challenge of Passion for Papertrey.

Okay, the quality of the pictures could be better! I'm sorry, but I have posted this card already, so no other possibility to make a better one...

 

This post is just a little break in my summer break (or shall I say 'autumn' break LOL). I try to read your blogs as soon as possible, but the list is long....

Happy Easter Monday!

It is rainy, chilly and I´m sitting on our couch, warmed by our stove... Not really a very spring feeling, but in a way I just like it. We don´t have a special programme for today as my husband had a night shift and is still sleeping. This morning I enjoyed  reading a book ('Het Pauperparadijs' by Suzanna Jansen - really grabbed by this story), listened some music and now surfing on Internet and reading some stunning blogs.
 I found this one by Elena  and I envy her development in cards and photography! The differences between American and Dutch cards still strikes me. I love the 'simple' cards of the Americans and their use of embellishments. I don't find it often in our own country and I'm wondering why not? However, I won't say I don't like the Dutch cards. Fortunately, we've got also many talented cardmakers!!! And I call it our own Dutch style (including my own creations)!
Do you recognize the differences? Or is it just my feeling?

For today, I've got a card to share with a banner of little hearts. These hearts want to say: 'thinking of you'. I used again Basic Grey's Picadilly. To fill up the cream part a bit I stamped postmarks in red onto it. Hope you like it!

The stampset 'A little argyle' of PTI is one of my favorites.  For this card I used it to make a background with versamagic 'pink petunia' and memento 'lady bug'. These colors are also used for the flowers. It gives a 'pink' feeling, but by using a cream ribbon and a 'notebook' paper, it is balanced now. Usually I use scrappapers on every card. This one hasn't any patterned papers at all!

That's it for today. I'm going into my kitchen trying to prepare myself a lunch. I'll definitely manage ;)

Papertrey June Blog Hop Challenge

I've made a card for the PTI blog hop. The picture below was the challenge for today. The colours yellow, red and blue/green attracted me.

So, I decided to stamp a background with 'a little argyl' and 'polka dots basics' in red and yellow. The blue/green bordered accent cut is by Crate paper as well as the punched flowers. The sentiment is a stamp from 'Up, up and away'.

Thinking of you

I made this card for friends who have been going through difficult times. I hope it cheers them up a little bit.

As you can see Emma's shoppe is my favorite at this moment :) Although there are many more beautiful paper lines. Maybe my next challenge is to make a card with another paper line!

I have started the countdown for my trip to Romania. Next Thursday I'll leave for 9 days with a groups of teenagers for an exchange with a school in Cluj-Napoca. Looking forward to see friends and acquintances overthere! So, I'm not sure when posting the next message!
