Love birds

My holiday has started! Looking forward to having a bit of free time and hopefully craft time! The holiday started well as I received two sets from Clearly Besotted Stamps  yesterday. I found these stamps last week on the Internet and as I was still looking for stamps for wedding and engagement cards I ordered the set Paired Up and a sentiment set. Perfect sets for  quick cards. Of course, I made some cards yesterday evening! Here they are:

With Sympathy

I had to send a sympathy card and decided to make one myself. I think all card makers are struggling with these cards. It is so hard to create a card which is sober and without frills. I got some inspiration from Nichole Heady with this card.
I used PTI's Botanical Silhouttes for the sentiment and Rosie Posie for the flowers. I scored two lines at both sides of the sentiment , but it is hardly visible on the picture.

Okay, back to work now. Only a few days and the holiday starts. Looking forward to it! By the way I passed all my tests, thank you for all your 'good lucks'!

Birthday Card

I'm busy marking lots of tests. Next week we have to fill in the marks for the report, so that means a busy period.  And for my own studies I had to finish some assignments. This morning I finished the last one for the first semester of the year. During a break I made this card. After the row of CAS cards in previous posts it was time for making a card in my own style (although these CAS cards are part of my style too, I guess). Hopefully, Cornelie is satisfied right now! She was a bit complaining about missing my own (patchwork) style in the previous posts. LOL!

I made the card with Simple Stories - Summer Fresh. The sun is a stamp from PTI"s Up, Up and Away.

Challenge Judith-Gerdine #7

Judith and I continue our challenges! A few weeks ago I received a great mix of patterned papers from Lilybee Design. What a gift! I had never worked with these papers before, but I had seen them many times on internet and I loved it. Judith has chosen the perfect set for me! With the paper I got many other supplies and three challenges. The first one was to create a card with a tag, scrapper's floss and a brad. So, I took of having an idea in mind. I really wanted to make a flower with several flower dies and I didn't want a very messy card. I started with the sketch and that was done in a moment. I just put the tag and the papers in this composition and it felt perfectly. Now the flower. Not that difficult. But the brad I got from Judith was too small to use as a centre. That's why I used a button (with scrapper's floss!). The sentiment is from PTI.

 

But on the card I did not use the brad. That is why I decided to make a tag. Thank you, Judith, for sending two tags! I punched out a smaller flower and here the brad fits perfectly. I added some floss and blue-white twine which I also got from Judith.

Valentine style

No, I'm not really into Valentine's Day, but when I saw the challenge on the new, sparkling challengeblog 'Cas on Sunday' I thought: let's give it a try! And here is my card:

The card is made with MFT Homespun Hearts and MME Nostalgia. The background is distressed with Antique Linen and all the borders with Tea Dye.

Button Tree

I got a few minutes left and hurried to my craft room. I worked out an idea I had in mind after finding some inspiration on Pinterest. I saw a tree filled with hearts. I thought why not using MFT's buttons and leaves? Yep, I have to practise a bit more the get the shape of the tree better, but for a first attempt it isn't that bad, is it? At the left side I added a strip of paper from Glitz Design and stitched the papers together. It looks like I'm in a CAS mood :)

I made a litte card (10x10) with MME's Follow your heart. Still in love with this line. It doesn't need that much as the paper is printed with a beautiful doily and roses. The sentiment and heart border is from 'Homespun Hearts' by MFT.The button is from a set with stars, hearts and funny rabbits I got from my mother.

Did you see or hear the announcement of our queen? What a surprise! It is a strange idea that in a few months she won't be our queen anymore.I've got a deep respect for her as she did a lot for The Netherlands. Tonight on tv I heard a few people from my generation speaking about "our" Queen and it feels a bit the same for me. I was only a few months old when she became queen and my mum always tells me about sitting on her knee and watching the ceremony with full attention.  Unfortunately I haven't got a photo of that...

DCL #171 and MCSC #12

Over the past few months I have seen so many beautiful white based cards with paperpiece techniques that I have to try it myself. I usually work in a vintage coloured style, but I'm fond of the whites as well. However it is hard to switch from 'dirty' colours to white cardstock... This morning I saw the DCL challenge for this week with a beautiful colour card from which you have to use five colours. And for the CAS blog of MCSC the challenge of this month is: 'anything goes'. Perfect mix of challenges, isn't it?
So I checked my paper stash and compared the colours of the challenge with it. Summer Fresh of Simple Stories matched the best (poppy red, dusk blue, linen, lemon zest and monaco blue).
After finding the papers I had to look for a stamp set which I could use for paper piecing. I've got only one at the moment which is usable and that is 'Up, Up, Away' from PTI. It is really a fun technique! I coloured the baskets with a Derwent pencil. Do you know Debby Hughes' blog? She inspired me to work with a strip of patterned paper at the left side.

You make me happy

I've got a lot of leftovers of older paperlines which are waiting for being used. One of them is Echo Park's This and That. I pulled it out of the stash in my cupboard and played with it a bit. I've got the 30/30 cm paper sheets and these designs are a bit too big for using on cards. That makes it a hard job to use it. I love cards with frames on it and I tried to use one myself. But it is harder than I thougt. Well, this is the result of my attempt.

Thinking of you

Tests are over! Yesterday evening I did the last two tests. Such a relief! Hopefully I've got pass marks, but I have to wait a couple of weeks before I will know. Some tests were really hard. Let's hope the best. Today was my day off, so I had enough time to make a card. I used the papers and stamps which were still on my craft table. It means that I show you again a card made with MME Nostalgia and MFT's Homespun Hearts. The background is stamped with PTI's polka dots. It is not a card which makes me very satisfied. Maybe this idea worked better when I designed a 10/15 cm card. But I like the stamped 'heart-flower' with the sentiment!
