CFC #61 Splashes

A new challenge has been launched at Crazy for CAS: splashes. As I don't own a stamp with splashes or something similar I messed around with glimmer mist. I used some papers from Crate Paper, a die from Clearly Besotted Stamps, a star punch and some thread.

I should be honest, it wasn't my first card for this challenge. I doubted a little bit if I would show the first card to you, but well, here it is. For this one I used water colour paper, a dauber and ink from SU and for the splashes I mixed some drops of the same ink with perfect pearls for a bit of glimmer. The die is from Lawn Fawn and I stitched it on the card. However, in my opinion this one is a bit boring...

For Nina

If there was an election for the most favourite stamp set of the year I would vote for Avery Elle's Storybook. I can't remember how many cards I made with the little deer and other animals in this set. While I was working on a set of christmas cards with stencils (I'll show them later) , I saw Sanne's announcement of the birth of Nina. So, I took my pink glimmer mist and sprayed it over a stencil. I coloured the deer and added a little wink of Stella. For the banner and stars I used some vellum and gold embossing powder and finally a bit of thread and sequins. The result is a bling bling babycard, but isn't that appropriate in this December month?
Sanne and Yuri, congrats on the birth of Nina! This card is on its way to you.

Negative die cut

For a long time I have been admiring card made with the negative space die cutting technique, especially when letters and numbers are involved. After seeing this card by Els, I knew that I had to do something with this technique soon. This week I needed three cards and I found some really nice Alphabet and Numbers die sets from Lawn Fawn. Perfect for a card for a colleague who gave birth to a son. And for two couples who celebrated their 50th and 60th wedding anniversary. I kept the cards CAS and used only a small heart stamp and a sentiment besides the dies. As background a gingham pattern. For the first two I used foam tape to pop up the white part. For the third I just glued it onto the gingham background, but it actually lost the effect of the first two. So, no glue next time, just foam tape.

Stripes

Still enjoying my holiday. Unfortunately, it isn't really good for productivity.  I had other plans for this summer period. But summer break isn't over yet.
These cards have been made with a mask, distress inks (the blue one) and SU ink (the pink one). I like the effect, it looks like watercolour stripes although it is made without any water. For the blue one I coloured the little mouse of Avery Elle's Storybook and gold embossed a few stars. The banner and sentiment are from Avery Elle as well. I love the outcome of this card! With this card I like to participate in the current challenge at 'Addicted to CAS'. The code word is 'Gold'. I'm not really fond of bling bling, so I used gold in a subtile way...

The pink one has the same background, but with a bit different design. I used the baby die + stamp from Papertrey and added some sequins and twine.

Before my holiday I posted a card, but I couldn't take a proper photo, so I took another on. Here it is.

Storybook and a give-away

Last Saturday I told you that I own only one butterfly stamp. That afternoon I could add two more to my collection, when I got new goodies! I fell in love with Avery Elle's Storybook the very first time I saw this stamp set. Last week I found it in the Netherlands and I ordered it immediately. So cute! There are two tiny butterflies in the set and many more adorble images. I made some cards with the set. The last card was an experiment with masking the borders and inking with distress inks to create a landscape. It worked out so well, that I decided to use it for a card.

This weekend I finished a project I had been working on for a couple of weeks. My brother in law is getting married next Thursday. I made two blouses for two of our nephews, size 92 (that's the one on the photo) and 128. What a project, but they fit both perfectly and the boys are proud of them. Me too!

Yep, the label isn't quite up-to-date, but they know it is made by their aunt, accompanied by Saar and Pien somewhere in studio Saar and Pien.

Lift challenge #68 shake it!

Shaker cards are a real craze at this moment, but I had never made one myself. Until I saw the new challenge on the Lift Challenge blog. I has been a long time ago since I joined a lift challenge. So I watched a tutorial and thought of a nice design. I decided to keep my card quite simpel, as I don't like many frills on a card. Last year I bought the Crate Paper line 'the Pier'. I fell in love with this line, but I didn't do much with it. I really don't know how to create something with it. But after watching the papers again I came up with this idea, the pier papers and the hello die from Lawn Fawn:

 

 

 

I needed a baby card as well. Same idea, but now with Crate Paper's 'Oh Darling' and the baby die from Papertrey Ink:

CFC #40 Spring has sprung

The new challenge at the Crazy for Cas blog has got a beautiful picture as source of inspiration for you! Great colours, flowers and lovely animals, enough ideas to work with. It inspired me to create two squared cards. One inspired by the flowers, the other inspired by the animals.

As you probably have mentioned I haven't post any card since the previous CFC-challenge and I'm not a regular visitor of your blogs as well. It has all to do with the final stage of my studies. I'm busy with my thesis and I'd like to focus on this job instead of other things. So, it is not because of desinterest of lack of inspiration, but I really like to finish my studies as soon as possible. It means a short blog break (so when I leave you a comment or post a card on my blog it is clear that I'm fed up with writing and reading ;) )

Challenge Judith-Gerdine #8

Months ago Judith challenged me with a new round of challenges with three projects and a bunch of lovely papers from Lilybee design. The first challenge was to make a card using brads and a tag. See this post. We didn't work on the next project due to time and lack of inspiration until this week. But today we want to reveal our cards. Judith asked me to create a wobble card! What a hard job to do! I don't posses dies for bigger circles, so I made a mini-card. Nice to add to a present. As I need baby cards I used PTI's Hanging Out. The papers were perfect for a little girl. It was a bit hard to add a sentiment (no space left), so I punched a little heart and stamped a tiny 'baby' sentiment.

Hot air balloons mobile

A few posts ago I gave you a preview of a project I was working at. Yesterday I finished the project and I like to show you some more pictures. It was a bit hard to take pictures as I don't have a good spot to hang up the mobile. So I used our lamp as a standard!

Now we have to wait for the birth of the new owner of this mobile. By the way, you can find the pattern and tutorial on 'Craftiness is not optional'. This blog is really worth visiting! I bought felt at the website of De Viltwinkel. Good quality and the felt is sold with matching embroidery floss. Perfect!

 Do you see the monkey on the picture above? It is a so called sock monkey. I didn't know the story about this monkey until I made a quilt as a baby present for the eldest child of our brother- and sister-in- law. I asked my sister in law to look for a pattern and fabric she liked and she came up with a fabric line of Moda with the monkeys. I made this quilt: (I know the quality of the pictures could be better, but the pictures are taken long time ago...)

When we visited the USA I saw this monkey in a quiltshop and I had to buy it! After finishing this quilt I had a few leftovers and when they expected their second child I made a bag for toys.

Their third child will get the mobile and the colours of the monkey fabric inspired me for choosing the felt. 

So, this project has been finished! On time! Let's start a new project. Maybe it is time for some cards?!

Baby card

For the coming period I don't have any idea about possibilities of posting on my blog. This week and next week I've got my tests for the Teacher Trainings College. Tomorrow will be a very long day of testing. At the end of year 2 we have to take the CAE exam (for those who know this international test). Tomorrow is the day and I'm a bit nervous... Thursday we've got our regular tests at the 'Hogeschool' like next week. I'm surrounded by books, but during my breaks I allow myself to dwell a bit in blogland.


Fortunately, I've got some cards in stock to show you! For today a baby card made with PTI's Hanging Out stamp set and papers  from 4heures 37. The sentiment is from Artemio, stamped on a part of a Nestabilities label 1 . By the way, the washing line is from  WMS bitty Banners as it fits better to this size of the card.
I was asked to make a card for a baby girl. I made two. This one is a more sturdy card. I will post the more romantic one later on!

So, I will post sometimes a card and I try to visit your blogs regularly, but forgive me if I don't leave you a comment, you know now why!

WMS Sketch challenge #40

It has been a long time ago since I blogged something. It has been very busy weeks and I didn't do much creative activities. But yesterday I made a name banner in stead of a babycard for a little girl who is born into a family of our church. And this morning I saw the sketch for this week from Waltzingmouse. Easy-peasy for this week for me! I made it already. That's real fun!! Well, to be honest, it's not really a look-a-like, but I hope you'll like it!
