Special delivery

I received some happy mail yesterday! I ordered some stamp sets and coordinating dies which were released on the previous CHA by Avery Elle. With the set 'Special Delivery' I created two cards.
Love that stork!

Have you seen this tutorial by Jennifer McGuire about stamping solid clear stamps? I used it for these cards and it worked quite well! It gives a nice and even image of the banner stamp. The banner on the first is stamped with aqua mist from Papertrey Ink. Unfortunately, I can't get the colour right on this picture.

Flowers and texts

Last week a couple from our church got married. I attended the church service and saw a beautiful wreath with flowers on the front page of the order of service. It was also on their wedding card. That was the inspiration for the card! I stamped the bible text which the sermon was about on a card with the SU alphabet roller stamp, stamped flowers and branches with PTI's  Twig Wreath and adhered this front panel onto one of the plaid designs from Lawn Fawn.

I also needed a card for a 25th wedding anniversary. Same idea with a different text.

And as the Twig Wreath set was still on my desk I also stamped a very quick congrats card with a  Els BrigĂ© stamp.

little one

It has been a long time ago that I created a card without any stamping at all. However, with Crate Paper's new baby line there is no need to stamp. In the paper pad are some small journaling cards which can be used in stead of sentiment stamps. These papers are from the 'boys' line. The background with dots is from Simple Stories.

Flowers and a wreath

I made this card for Judith. She has recently celebrated her birthday, but I couldn't make it in time to send her a card. So, I created a card with a more neutral sentiment, which I think she will appreciate. Hopefully she has received the card by now! All used materials are from Papertrey Ink.

Delicate

I used the partial embossing technique on this card as well. It just gives some extra dimension and detail to a card. I kept the card clean and simple and used some scraps of Crate Paper. The die is from Simply Graphic and the sentiment from Papertrey Ink.The current challenge at Addicted to Cas is 'Delicate'. I think this card fits into that challenge because of the embossed background and the delicate branches.

partial embossing

The silence here at this blog definitely says something about my productivity in the last two months. Yep, I haven't created any card at all. No time, no inspiration, too many other things to do. I don't worry about such periods. Experience tells me that time and inspiration will come back sooner or later. This morning I had a quick look at Pinterest and saw a tutorial by GerJanne. It is about partial embossing. Beautiful technique and this afternoon I gave it a try. I needed a card for a couple from our church who have been married for 40 years. I used an embossing folder from SU, dies from Simply Graphic and Lawn Fawn, the alphabet roller stamps from SU and the splashes are from SU as well.

Thanks, Gerjanne for the tutorial. Very helpful indeed!
By the way, I really am a lurker in blogland at the moment. I'm sure that one day I will have time to read everything and leave you comments. I promise!

Have a lovely Easter weekend!

Lift challenge #100

Happy anniversary to the "Lift Challenge". It is the 100th edition of this great challenge. Although I have been absent for a while in blogland due to tests and work I noticed somewhere on the Internet this milestone. I don't participate very often in this challenge, but I always admire the lifts people create. For this anniversary I'd love to take part in the festivities :). This afternoon I had some spare time and though it is a hard challenge this time, I gave it a try. I am not a star with distress ink or water colouring so I pulled out my spectrum noirs, a piece of vellum and a birthday stamp + die set from PTI and created this card. I always struggle with adhering vellum to paper, but I have bought a glue spray recently and this works perfectly well! However, the smell of the glue is awful...

Cornelie and Marjan, congrats and I hope you will provide us with many more lift cards in the future!

So happy for you

One of my fellow students at the Teacher Trainings Course graduated last month. I sent her this card with a very true sentiment, as I am really happy for her and proud of her.
With ink, water and a brush I made a background on watercolour paper. After letting it dry I stamped the leaves from the SU set 'Friends and Flowers' in red to get a repeating pattern. With a darker pink ink I splashed a little. I heat embossed an PTI sentiment on vellum and finally I added some sequins.

Chocolate is the answer...

........who cares what the question is

I know this quote is true for many persons. So, with this in mind I made some chocolate holders for my fellow sewers on my sewing group to give as a birthday treat. I used the envelope punch board, some papers from Pebbles Inc, a sentiment from PTI and some twine. I took off the paper from the bar and wrote on the silver foil what kind of chocolate it is.
